Considering past instances, the government is eyeing the purchases made by the Federal Emergency Management Agency for the purpose of providing relief in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina with a critical eye. While those involved in the relief work deny any misuse, the government wants to very sure that ''hardworking Americans don't pay for government employees' Christmas shopping.'' The congressional audit will focus on missed discounts along with instances of abuse of government credit cards.
